Mary Michael is passionate about water safety in our youth. Through educating in classrooms, working with the American Red Cross, providing free swim lessons, working with officials in communities, partnering with national brands, creating coloring sheets that demonstrate water competency, and weekly “Water Wednesday” posts, she is working to change the predicted 945 children from losing their life next year, Because 1 Is Too Many.
As a lifeguard of 3 years, Water Safety Ambassador, and concerned citizen Mary Michael has a mission to make sure every child understands water safety skills. Mary Michael has first hand experienced the joy children feel when successfully learning to swim, but has also seen the fear in a child’s eye when they begin to drown. She has provided swim safety skills to over 5,500 people and isn’t stopping anytime soon because she realizes that swimming isn’t just a fun hobby, it’s a necessity.
